These are so pretty! Who arranged them? Maybe you should take up ikebana! xoxo

Hello, Jan,

Thank you for your interest in my blog.

These flowers were arranged by people from all over Nagano prefecture, at what might be considered by some to be the “Super bowl” of being a frolicking pansy-ass.

(that was a joke)

i was going to send these to gabby and snooky, but i decided id just put them up for everyone. there were lots more, but these are the only ones i have good pics of- Ive come to really respect bonsai and ikebana, though, for being unique forms of art. it really captures ‘wabi’ and ‘sabi,’ japanese feelings describing peace and silence. if you put your emotions in the trust of the artist, it sways you.

i was looking at these ancient, tiny and shriveled little trees, squinting, and then i realized i was the only one under 40 in the place. it was pretty funny.

I appreciate your comment and continued interest in my publication.

love + flowers-

-Jay

Hey Jay,

Thanks for the pics of those flower arrangements. I am impressed with your photography and artistic layout. also of the blog. Keep up the good work! Ill show them to Snooky soon.

If you ever see Japanese primroses (spring -flowering) growing in the wild, or in gardens, please take pictures of those.!

Primula japonica is the botanical name, but any primrose will do.

Thanks

xo Gaby

Gabby!

for sure, ill keep on the lookout. i google-imaged it, and i think i have seen the one called the ‘evening primrose.’ people have (had, getting a little bit cold lately) the quaintest little gardens outside their front door, usually not just flowers but a whole assembly of pruned trees and little koi ponds. ill see if i can snap a few of those.

thanks!
